SEND Information Report

At Hummersknott Academy, we believe that all children and young people are entitled to an education which:

  • nurtures each individual’s aspirations and talents
  • provides outstanding learning experiences and opportunities
  • promotes respect for one another and the environment
  • encourages collaboration and partnership

We endeavour to meet these aims for pupils with SEND by:

  • identifying and providing for such pupils
  • working within the guidance provided by the SEND Code of Practice
  • operating a ‘whole pupil, whole school’ approach to the management and provision of support for such pupils
  • providing a SENDCO and an Assistant SENDCO who will work to implement the SEND policy
  • providing support and advice for all staff working with pupils who have special educational needs or disabilities
  • working closely with parents and carers and outside agencies

At Hummersknott Academy we believe in inclusion for all students in all aspects of the curriculum. School life is planned, and reasonable adjustments are implemented, in order to best meet the needs of pupils with special needs and disabilities. We believe that every teacher is a teacher of SEND.
