Life Skills

At Hummersknott, we are passionate about developing the whole child by supporting our students to grow and flourish into successful young adults. We have a responsibility to ensure that they have the knowledge, understanding and skills that will support them to be successful citizens, know how to transition into further and higher education, know how to effectively function in an ever-changing world of work and know how to keep themselves physically healthy, mentally healthy and socially safe.

Our Life Skills curriculum is:

  • Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG)
  • Citizenship including British Values
  • Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) including Relationships and Sex Education

The Structure of Life Skills

Life Skills is taught through extended form time on a Friday morning alongside a range of Life Skills events taking place throughout the year. The curriculum can be viewed in the document below:

  • Assemblies on key issues
  • Careers Convention
  • Mock Interview Experience
  • Year 10 Work Experience
  • Post 16 Transitions Events including assemblies, visits to local FE Colleges and Universities, College application clinics
